Earn credit for the written Basic Knowledge Exam by registering for our Teen Course!
Diamond Driving School of Kent was selected to participate in the DOL's Basic Knowledge Test Pilot Pilot Program!
Our final exam has been approved to give students who pass on their first attempt credit toward the written Basic Knowledge Exam required to earn their driver license. This effort is being made to save parents and students time at the Licensing Services Offices. It is a great asset to parents and students who choose to attend our school.
Students who are under the age of 18 who pass our final exam, and have not already taken the Basic Knowledge Test at the DOL to obtain their permit, will receive an additional endorsement on their Traffic Safety Education Certificate upon completion of the course.
Students 15 yearsor older may enroll in a Traffic Safety Education course. Enrollment in a licensed school permits students to obtain a driver permit at the age of 15 rather than waiting until they are 15½. Enrollment also waives the required written knowledge test administered by a licensing agency.
A Washington State Traffic Safety Education course consists of two core elements:
classroom instruction
and behind-the-wheel (BTW) instruction.
In order to obtain a driver license, the Washington State Department of Licensing (DOL) requires prospective drivers, under the age of eighteen, to complete a state licensed program that consists of both of these elements. The program must provide a minimum of 30 hours of classroom instruction, one hour of behind-the-wheel observation, and six hours of behind-the-wheel instruction and practice. When a driver education course is completed, a student receives a state-issued certificate and is then eligible to apply for a driver license.
